These are entries to a Washington Post competition asking for a two-line rhyme with the most romantic first line, but the least romantic second line: My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife: Marrying you screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot; This describes everything you're not.

I thought that I could love no other --that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you. But the roses are wilting, the violets aredead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.

I want to feel your sweet embrace; But don't take that paper bag off your face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes --Damn, I'm good at telling lies!

My love, you take my breath away. What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell, Except for maybe "Go to hxxx."

If Walls Could Talk
A New Season on HGTV
“If Walls Could Talk” the weekly series, Sundays on HGTV, is coming to Connecticut to film homes with intriguing pasts, unusual stories and valuable objects found inside. Now in production on its 8th season, the series kicks off with new homeowners who make surprising historical discoveries about their homes as they explore and restore them. A lucky few will be amazed to learn that the historic artifacts they’ve discovered are worth a fortune when the “If Walls Could Talk” appraiser drops by for a look.
Each half-hour episode features homeowners from across the country who shares their amazing discoveries. Recent stories include:
A Connecticut family moves into a neglected 1800’s Victorian only to find antiques and a mysterious locked cabinet. What they find inside tells the touching story of their home’s original owner. Then, in the attic they discover original paintings and the “If Walls Could Talk” appraiser pays them a visit. The expert reveals their discoveries are worth thousands of dollars.
A Michigan couple inherits the husband’s family home. While cleaning up the place, they find out it once belonged to a Civil War General AND he left art and furniture behind that could be worth a fortune. Our appraiser drops by and tells them what its all worth.
A husband and wife in Colorado find books, clothing and jewelry in their new home. The clues add up to the story of a best-selling author who lived in the house until she disappeared.
A New York bachelor buys a hundred year old mansion and makes a chilling discovery in the basement— his home sweet home used to be a funeral home!
The series, which premiered in September of 1998, has aired over 200 episodes –each filmed in historic neighborhoods throughout the country.
If Walls Could Talk is produced for HGTV by High Noon Entertainment in Denver, CO.

HEROES SOUGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN HEADSHAVING EVENTS NATIONWIDE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH
What would you look like bald? Like a hero to kids with cancer, says the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Meriden, CT March 10, 2007 – The St. Baldrick's Foundation has issued a lofty challenge to everyone who wants to help raise money for childhood cancer research: Be a hero for children with cancer by participating in any of the 300+ head-shaving fundraisers that will be held nationwide this year.
Event will be held locally at Quality Time Food and Spirits 999 Broad Street, Meriden, CT 06450 – (203) 238-1915 - the Meriden Firefighters, in conjunction with Quality Time Café, will be sponsoring a this unique event founded by St. Baldrick's Foundation which "shaves the way" to conquer kids' cancer. In order to raise money for this great cause, we have participants who will be shaving their heads and accepting donations from family and friends for doing so.
Since its inception in 2000, St. Baldrick's has raised more than $20 million for the cause! Worldwide, 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year and despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada.
St. Baldrick's begun as a challenge among friends and has grown into the world's largest fundraising event for childhood cancer. Because treatment typically given to youngsters causes their hair to fall out, volunteers are recruited to have their heads shaved in public in return for pledges of financial support.
Participants find that shaving their head is a small sacrifice in comparison to what these children endure, and want to raise money to help find a cure for children with cancer now and in the future.

HOWSMYNANNY.COM, LLC ANNOUNCES WEBSITE TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ABUSIVE NANNIES
Parents Can Now Receive Feedback Regarding the Care Their Nannies Are Providing
An Assistant District Attorney in New York City, who works in the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Bureau, has developed a method whereby parents can receive feedback on the care their nannies are giving their children.
Wouldn’t you want to know if your nanny was being inattentive or abusive toward your child? Until now, there was no way a good Samaritan could reliably track down the unsuspecting parents to notify them. HowsMyNanny.com is an innovative and simple to use service that gives parents who employ nannies the ability to ensure quality care even when they are not there. “It’s so difficult as a parent to leave your child in the care of another. Any reassurance that your nanny is doing a good job will give parents the extra peace of mind they deserve.” said Jill Starishevsky, the Assistant District Attorney and mother of two, who developed the website.
A small “license plate” with the HowsMyNanny.com website and a unique identifying number is attached to a child’s stroller. The license plate enables a concerned citizen to report abuse to the parent through the website. In order to report an “event” to the child’s parents, a concerned citizen visits HowsMyNanny.com, inputs that child’s unique license plate number, describes the incident they observed and the parent is notified via email. The good Samaritan could even choose to remain anonymous.
For additional information, contact: Jill Starishevsky at 646-262-7418 email at info@HowsMyNanny.com or http://HowsMyNanny.com

Wallingford Public Library News and Events
Please note that while construction is being completed at the Library – limited programs are being held.
Bookfriends
Bookfriends, the Library’s popular winter book club, is back! Join Reference Assistant Sue Ryczek to explore three unique and interesting books:
Sunday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m.Crow Lake, by Mary Lawson ~ Canadian writer Mary Lawson’s debut novel is a beautifully crafted and shimmering tale of love, death, and redemption. The story, narrated by 26-year-old Kate Morrison, is set in Crow Lake, an isolated rural community where time has stood still. The reader dives in and out of a year’s worth of Kate’s childhood memories - when she was 7 and her parents were killed in an automobile accident that left Kate, her younger sister Bo, and two older brothers, Matt and Luke, orphaned. Lawson’s narrative flows effortlessly in ever-increasing circles, swirling impressions in the reader’s mind until form takes shape and the reader is left to reflect on the whole. Crow Lake is a wonderful achievement that will ripple in and out of the reader’s consciousness long after the last page is turned.
Refreshments will be served at these free programs which will be held in the Library (in what used to be the front foyer).

National Inhalants and Poisons Awareness Week March 19-24, 2007
Often overlooked as a danger, common household products can be deadly not just to very small children, but to older children “who should know better than do that!”
There are approximately 1,000 ordinary household products (ex. glues/adhesives, nail polisher remover, marking pens, paint thinner, spray paint, butane lighter fluid, gasoline, propane gas, household cleaners, air conditioning coolants) that are deliberately inhaled or sniffed by children to get high. Sniffing can severely damage many parts of the body, including the brain, heart, liver and kidneys. “Sudden Sniffing Death” can occur during or right after sniffing. Even first time users can die from sniffing inhalants. The heart begins to overwork; beating rapidly but unevenly and can lead to cardiac arrest.
Initial use of inhalants often starts in elementary school. One in five 8th grade students have used inhalants.
Tips for Parents:
Educate yourself. Participate in a free, anonymous online training for parents on the internet at www.inhalantabusetraining.org.
Talk early and often. Communicate with your child about harmful behaviors whether that is using alcohol, drugs or risky internet behavior.
Remember when talking with your child that inhalants are not drugs; they are poisons and toxins and should be discussed as such.
Model safe behavior at home. When using volatile substance follow the directions on ventilation and safety and make sure that your child knows the dangers and safeguards.
Get involved and stay involved in your children’s lives.
For more information for your family or school contact the CT Inhalant Task Force at the Meriden and Wallingford Substance Abuse Council (MAWSAC) at 203-294-3591 or email ctinhalantinfo@aol.com.
