Wallingford Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program: Read 3 Get 1 Free Read 3 Get 1 Free is the new Teen Summer Reading Program for local teens in grades 6 through 12. Beginning Monday, June 25th, teens can stop by the library’s Information Desk and pick up a brochure describing this exciting program in which they can read 3 books, fill out and turn in book report slips for each, and then select a free paperback book from a huge assortment. In addition, throughout the summer there will be weekly drawings for additional fun prizes including CDs, sports memorabilia, and posters. Remember, you can also get your school summer reading books at the library, read them, and use them toward the Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program. Need help finding a title? Ask a librarian. “Read ‘Em and Eat: Wallingford Public Library’s Summer Reading Club for Adults”
Beginning June 28th adults are welcome to participate in the summer reading program, “Read “Em & Eat” at the Wallingford Public Library and earn chances to win $25.00 gift certificates to local restaurants. To enter, participants read any book(s) of their choosing and fill out a form for each book including the name of the book and how well it was liked or disliked. Each week beginning July 5, forms will be entered into a random drawing and a gift certificate will be awarded to the winner. Subsequent drawings will be held July 12, 19, 26, and August 2, 9, 16. A grand prize drawing will be held on August 23 when the forms from all the past weeks will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 gift certificate to one of the participating restaurants. This year’s participating restaurants are: Archie Moores, Gaetano’s Tavern on Main, Half Moon Coffee CafĂ© and Grill, Laskara Restaurant, 99 Restaurant, Tata’s Restaurant, and The Yankee Silversmith Inn. Participants must be a minimum of 18 years old to enter. Forms and additional information can be obtained at the library and by calling 203-265-6754. Meriden Public Library News and Events NEW LIBRARY HOURS STARTING JULY 2 Meriden Public Library has announced new hours starting Monday, July 2. The new hours will be Monday through Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will be closed on Fridays and Sundays. This show consists of humorous songs about our natural world that are guaranteed to engage everyone. Tom accompanies himself with guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and all songs include parts for the whole family. This program is free but tickets are required. MERIDEN PUBLIC LIBRARY SATELLITE BRANCHES WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER The Meriden Public Library satellite branches at Nathan Hale, Hanover, and John Barry Schools as well as the Boys and Girls Club will be closed this summer starting June 18. Students are encouraged to visit the main library on Miller Street for their summer reading books.
